Starbucks Coffee Kyoto Nineizaka Yasaka Chayaten

World first Starbucks experience to feel the Japanese traditional culture. Starbucks with Tatami rooms and Noren curtain on ninenzaka street where leads to Kiyomizudera, the world heritage temple.

Kyoto Ninenzaka Yasaka Chayaten is located along historical Ninenzaka path which leads to Kiyomizu-dera, the world heritage temple. The coffee shop is in two-story traditional Japanese townhouse with a 100 years history.

The townhouse and the Daibei walled-fence are designated as traditional architectures preservation district. Especially the Daibei walled-fence is the only one that retains its original structure on the Ninenzaka path.

Starbucks made every effort to retain its original structure to create a new environment that blends traditional Kyoto culture and the Starbucks experience.

Ninenzaka district where we are located, cherish its historic atmosphere by taking good care and consideration to its history, culture, sightseeing, and their daily life. We as a part of their community, we are responsible for not disturbing their effort by asking customers’ cooperation such as limiting the number of guests during peak hours or asking guests not to make a line outside of the store.

We take our community into deep consideration to welcome every guest from in or outside of Japan with a hospitality sprit from this special place.

We opened our business on June 30th 2017 as the world’s first traditional Japanese-style Starbucks with Tatami rooms and Noren curtains to welcome guests.
